Our Logo…Our Identity…what do the boxes mean?
“Love one another as I have loved you.” – John 15:12
Every one of God’s children is a precious individual made in His image. As our creator, God rightfully requires all people everywhere to know, love, and honour Him…and that includes loving one another. The Christian Church is the family of God worldwide, made up of those that have come to faith in Jesus Christ, God’s son.
We are a diverse company of people from different walks of life who love life and love our God whole-heartedly and we are learning to express and enjoy our relationships with Him and with one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
“God’s way is not a matter of mere talk; it’s an empowered life.” - 1 Corinthians 4:20
As those who believe in Christ, repent of our sin and accept Christ’s way of dealing with it by dying on the cross we know that we are free people! We are empowered to live in that freedom by the Holy Spirit. He empowers us to find our identity in Christ, he lives within us, keeps us company, teaches us, strengthens us and enables us grow. We know that we are accepted and loved by God. It is important to understand the truth of how God sees us and to appreciate the grace, healing and power that are ours in Christ so that we can enjoy life and walk free from sin, guilt, habits and any other past hindrances. So, we spend time teaching and imparting these principles to one another in order to get strong. We believe that as we speak out and walk in these truths every day we will enjoy free and powerful lives. We will fulfil our God-given destinies and capacities.
“May He keep us centred and devoted to Him, following the life path He has cleared, watching the signposts, walking at the pace and rhythms He laid down…” - 1 Kings 8:58
We are a community of people who wholeheartedly want to make God’s desires, plans and purpose our first priorities. As individuals and together we passionately aim to be devoted to Jesus and to copy his example by being devoted to the things the Father is doing so that He can fulfil his purposes. As Jesus prayed, we also pray that: ‘His will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.” Together, we choose Jesus’ way of doing things, such as accepting encouragement and correction from one another, putting each other’s needs before our own, choosing not to take offence or undermine anyone but supporting each other to stretch and grow through every challenge and life stage. We believe that we can all enjoy a close personal relationship with the Lord and we encourage one another to deepen this by investing time purely to concentrate on him, learn from the Bible, listen and act on what he has to say.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20
We are one community with groups and homes in many districts. Our vision is to grow person by person, village by village, taking the city. We want to be effective influences: bringing grace, truth and light to our families, neighbourhoods, workplaces, schools and colleges. We recognise every sphere of daily work as an opportunity to serve God and to share Jesus with others. We work in many different sectors and jobs and aim to pray for and support one another in our work and studies.
Of course these descriptions are not an absolute description and are open to additions and progressive thinking as we move more and more into what God wants to do with us corporately and individually! And in case you haven’t noticed… these 5 descriptions are an acronym of L.E.E.D.S.
